Cuckoo Clocks
The first black forest cuckoo clock was made over 250 years ago. Franz Kettler, who live in the middle of the black forest in Germany in a village called Triberg hand crafted the first design. He had intricately hand carved the clock and also the cuckoo bird. The cuckoo bird would do its thing at the top of every hour with chimes, pendulums, and weights.
As you search for these cuckoo clocks you will see traditional designs such as the 5 leaf cuckoo clock. The clock comes in different sizes. The clock is usually finished in Walnut with small painted flowers. The larger version is typically designed to be a eight day clock which only has to be wound once a week.
