George Nelson Ball and Sunflower Clocks

In 1947 George Nelson made the first clocks for the Howard Miller Company. There is approximately 150 vintage clock designs. The first design was the Ball Clock 4755. All George Nelson clocks were electric. The George Nelson design was discontinued in the 1980’s but Vitra picked the line up in the 90’s.

Seth Thomas Clocks

Born in Wolcott, CT in 1785. Seth Thomas started in the clock business in 1807, working for a clock maker by the name of Eli Terry. Seth Thomas bought Eli’s clock business in 1810 but sold his partnership and moved to Plymouth Hollow, CT in 1812 to start a factory to manufacture metal movement clocks. [...]
