Antique Cuckoo Clocks movements operate by the use of weights. The clocks weights were made to look like pinecones. It depends on the Antique Cuckoo clocks movement, but some you had to wind daily and other were designed to be wound every 8 days.
The most distinguished part of the Cuckoo Clock is the cuckoo sound. This sound is made when the door opens and a cuckoo bird or another figurine pops out on the hour and every hour. One cuckoo for each hour.
There are two different types of cuckoo clocks. One that plays a musical tune after the cuckoo sound and others that don't play a tune.
The clocks that play a musical tune have a third weight that operates the tune. The non musical clocks only have two weights.
